Warehouse Man

There’s something about working in a warehouse
Or a factory or a hotel or a restaurant
And what it does to you.

Well the days and years go by rabidly
The seasons only seem like a few days
Five years seem like only a couple of years
Holidays and birthdays come and go
The last ones seem to be not so long ago
You mean it’s already time for Halloween and
Christmas.

I look at myself and…
Five years has passed by
And I’m still wearing the same clothes from college
One doesn’t the latest fashions
My T-shirt has stains and holes in it
And so do my jeans
My shoes are very run down
And even if I could afford new ones, I don’t
Think I would want them
I haven’t shaved in three days and I definitely
Nee a haircut
Shaving would make late for work in the mornings
And I don’t want to wait during my time away form
The job in a barbershop,
There are more fun things to do
Than this.

Well I’ve gotten heavier an my gait is more awkward
And all of a sudden I am conscience of my nerves
The hair has gotten a little grayer
And the face frowns more in repose
One begins to drink more: wine, coffee, water, beer
Something to wake up to
Something to relax with

Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday

Forty hours a week
Going to fast
And not fast enough.
