| Visions of Lost Youth The young seem to think Life goes on forever. And as you get older It hits you It’s not true! What do you do? Not much! That’s the deal As years Steal Away what you used to have Looks fade away Slowly You don’t even notice Till you look At a photo From the past And you see The changes And say How did that happen? The same face you look at Every day Isn’t the same anymore! Athlete’s know the cruelty of time. Other’s take longer Every birthday ending in Zero Makes you ask “where did the time go?” and you feel depressed to know it only gets worse. Every day. Whatever you say Until the gray hairs Pop up Pounds pile on Metabolism isn’t what it once Was Mental blocks hit you Memory fades And where does it all go From here? Dreams die Babies cry. And you see hope in them That you have lost. but all are headed there anyway. The hot young thing now Will be older soon And before they realize It Will hit them too And the only question will Be How do you evolve? Life revolves Around this question Till you dissolve Into Nothingness Of the grave. Poem by Michael Juchnowski |
