The Limited Edition Chromium
Covered Black and White Variant Poem

comic books were the
401k of my youth

I truly believed the
McFarlane run on
Amazing Spiderman
would eventually net
me a fortune

but Fortuna rarely
smiles upon the horder
of modern age comics
regardless of how many
Wolverine guest appearances

I harbored so many dreams
for the contents of
those long white boxes

there’s not even enough
money represented inside
those boxes residing in
my mom’s attic to bail
me out of jail the day
I got arrested for
drunk and disorderly conduct
when I tired to piss
on Rob Liefield at the
Chicago Comic Con

a better gamble I think
would have been to read
the comic books and enjoy
a different sort of dream
