Death of an Angel Fish
I’m shocked!
I just went to my
Fish tank
To feed
Them
In their
Isolated little
Universe
And…..
I saw the angel fish
Lying sideways
Dead eye looking
Vacantly at me
And it really hit me.
My nerves are rattled
Because this fish
Was such a warrior.
Outlasting so many
Others through
Waters and times
That killed so many
Others.
It went through an
Important period
Of my life
And was my friend
When I was lonely
And needed a smile
Looking at me
Swimming frantically
When it saw me
Reaching for the
Fish flakes.
This morning it was
Fine
And a few hours
Later……..
Lifeless.
Already decomposing
And the other fish
Already nibbling
Cannabilistically
Its flesh.
How quickly things
Happen.
Life to death in a flash.
I wonder if this fish
Had any idea it was
Coming?
As if fish can think
But I can.
And it really serves
To
Illuminate
Just how fast
Life can just
Vanish!
Poof!
And you realize
One day its
someone
Or
something.
And
someday
It will
Be
You!
