People in Your Life
It amazes when you
Start to reflect on all
The people that pass
Through your life.
The ones there almost
Every day your entire life,
To ones that were
Vital at some point,
And then vanish
Entirely and you ask
Yourself how did
That person exit my
Life?
So close to
So far away
You might not even
Know where they are
But they left some imprint
Inside you.
Some of them you most
Certainly know where to
Find but just can’t bring
The motivation to
Call them
Or write
Or visit
Because it seems
Too much.
Too far removed.
Lost connections
That don’t feel right anymore.
And old faces are replaced
By new faces
That might be there
For just a random moment
A clerk in a gas station
Or a few hours
At a party
Or weeks and months
A new colleague at work
Or years
Of someone else
Significant
As the revolving doors
Keep turning
In and out
Until you’re no more.
And it just continues to
Happen to
Other people instead
Of you.
