Life Passes By

I feel the clock
Ticking seconds off
One after another and
Sometimes you are very
Aware its happening
And mostly not
But as you think about it
And realize the
Inexorable march toward
Your last moment
And you know that
Persons you love
Will perhaps die before you
And all the
Anguish that represents
And the question of how
To go on in a world
Where you try to find answers
That defy your attempts
Claim them
It seems so cruel
Yet we go on anyway
Feeling lost
And sometimes feeling
Certain
That we know something
Profound
And yet as always
Only time will tell
If we were right
In everything we thought
We knew.
Or is that an illusion too?
