Irreproachable Design

I sat all afternoon by a
deluged forest floor—
watched a pink sun kill it
[all moisture the air’s eventuality]—

watched its light pull out
blood & color.

[somewhere in the sky are
inexhaustible lakes
infused with my blood & color] &

one day
I
will swim in these waters,
will reclaim what is mine then realize it was never mine—
will watch orange spiders navigate the same waters,
will smile as they bite me,
will smile as they too are bitten by
the sun & dried—

having then to
find new lakes &
claim new
possessions.

All possessions eventually an
eventuality.
