Escape

I ‘m on the road again!
The mile markers pass
And so do the signs.
Another day has turned to darkness
And I drive and drive to find a place.
Where I can start all over again.
Further I drive
And I push the gas pedal,
To travel faster.
Away from it all, I escape.
Fuel light blinking like images of you.
I stop for gas, but the tank never fills.
No matter how many miles I drive,
My memories of you I can’t escape.
