Drifting Transient

at times blissful nature filled open photographic book
feeling your eyes are movie cameras implanted
inside a crows voyage- across flawlessly shaped
just finished still soaked paintings

hand gliding through face packed billows & mountains
up through Colorado winding peaks
orange ghostly new Mexico’s caves Upon hills
first authentic cold of Chicago’s windy city
bundled up at sunset filling you rigs tank

after a warm breakfast of ramen & coffee
wondering where days will take you
how many faces you will stare at again & never see
through unusual toll infrastructure’s in hectic city traffic
or perfect flowing multi colored rainbows reflecting
over bridges that seem to be built by god himself
out of no where maybe just the quick glimpse upon

smiles of lost hitchhiker’s wanting to just go anywhere
along tall skyscrapers next to busily pumping smoky factories
sounds of a heavy rain pitter patting down in the fog
at times a perfect song playing just for your ears
real chill & snow fall in odd little towns of Wisconsin

while listening to them accents on cb that sound like
a Michigander meets a Canadian from Massachusetts
just as some kid in back seat with that youth filled
non corrupt smile lifts his arm up & down for you to tug your
horn
late night rides in not yet ventured misty Tennessee mountains

ears popping lighting another cigarette, thinking about tonight’
s meal
waiting for another long day/night to end
the excitement while falling asleep to purring trucks idling
wondering what city & state you will end up in next
non stop rain for days in Carolina’s-lightning busting down
inches from rig

while scared 4 wheelers pull over with worried 4 way flashers
on
as I zoom by them all, knowing that death shouldn’t be feared
Georgia’s green fields with Atlanta’s busy body rush hour
or summer emerald California mountains that go on & on for
miles
in another perfectly 80 degree sunset with Los Angeles lights
at night
kansas cafes in mini populations with fat good spirited
waitress’s

sometimes beautiful females working behind cash registers
while your buying beef jerky at another truck stop in Kentucky
you may never see again her face or her bright blue eyes
St. Louis loops/ arches/ short cuts down through Alabama back
roads
catching glimpses of poor people barbecuing as night falls
out Arkansas way- run down houses with junkyard front lawns
west Virginia’s forests climbing altitudes

& Pennsylvania’s high reaching plush jade hills
that climb & climb to skies leading off non freeways
more mini towns with style & big bad bikers with babes
clutching to their backs grinning into distances with their love
utah’s perfect snobby blonde Mormon beauties driving

around in rich little sports mobiles- snow tipped mountains
even sad black faces along Jackson Mississippi’s crack
infested trucks stops
they too have dreams, hopes, goals, searching for something,
they too were once just kids with un corrupted souls
even jersey spouts out its own culture & people just trying to
survive

the cute Mexican girls roaming in El Paso & Laredo
Houston’s smog & Dallas’s Iranian ran bullet proof glass fuel
stops
Brownsville border towns serving you real tacos,
genuine hot spicy enchiladas with chips & salsa
with a smile & an extra strong Margarita
nevada’s welcoming bunny ranches * bright city lights in
Vegas nights

even Iowa’s long straight roads of nothing but cornfields
missouri’s backward miniature towns with local Martini bars
that sneak
up every other corner unexpectedly- something new to ponder
liquor signs
south Dakota, north Dakota, Wyoming, Montana like different
planets
amish atmospheres hidden in Ohio’s licking rivers passing
through townships
planted along isolated farms burning fresh smelling wood

arizona’s always heated sun ripping down through ones window
oregon’s green wilderness up steep hills curling around ones
soul
michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio’s annoying big truck 55 speed
limit
some day’s doesn’t even get your frustration boiling
louisiana Cajun babbling French accents showing hospitality
down near Baton Rouge feeding you free drinks all night

chomping on deep fried alligator meatballs
central, eastern, pacific, mountain.
washington hail chilled winters at terminals in Sumner
nebraska Badlands eroded sandstone castles

shortcuts to avoid tolls through tips of mountainous Maryland’s
michigans upper U.P. eating freshly caught fish near massive
sand dunes
after non stop laughter with at times
no substances needed but the road in front of you.
maybe I’ll conquer Australia next.
